Wellness and Emotional Support

🌟 You Are Allowed to Take Up Space

Wellness and Emotional Support Begin with Permission

If today feels a little heavy—or you’re shrinking yourself to keep the peace, fit in, or stay quiet—here’s your gentle reminder: you are allowed to take up space.

Your thoughts.
Your needs.
Your voice.
Your body.
Your presence.

They are all valid. They all matter.

Therapy Dogs Don’t Apologize for Taking Space (And Neither Should You)

One of the most beautiful things about dogs, especially therapy dogs like Sadie, is that they show up fully as they are. They take up space unapologetically—and they remind us that we can too.

Whether Sadie’s lounging across the couch, resting her paw on your lap, or nudging in for affection, she does it all without shame or fear of being “too much.”

That’s the kind of energy we’re inviting in today.

Reclaiming Wellness One Breath at a Time

So many of us were taught to make ourselves small—physically, emotionally, or energetically. But healing starts when we begin to show up as our full selves, even if it feels unfamiliar.

Here are a few small ways to reclaim space today:

  • Say what you need, even if your voice shakes

  • Stretch wide—literally take up physical space

  • Journal without censoring yourself

  • Sit in stillness and notice your breath

  • Rest without guilt

These are wellness tools too. Every act of self-expression and self-care is an act of resistance and recovery.

Emotional Support Comes in Many Forms

Sometimes it looks like therapy.
Sometimes it looks like walking your dog.
Sometimes it’s just sitting still long enough to hear what your heart has been trying to say.

At Animal Assisted Counseling of Indiana, we believe emotional support includes gentle encouragement, safe space, and often a furry friend who reminds you to come back to yourself.

Sadie doesn’t care how loud or quiet you are. She just shows up beside you. And that’s a reminder that we can do the same—for ourselves and each other.
