"Therapy dogs are part of the counseling environment at AACI and help create a calm, supportive space for many of our clients."

About Animal Assisted Counseling of Indiana

Animal Assisted Counseling of Indiana integrates client-centered therapy with the healing presence of therapy dogs.

For many clients—especially adolescents—the presence of a therapy dog can help reduce anxiety, increase comfort, and create a stronger therapeutic connection.

Our goal is to create an environment where both clients and clinicians feel supported, respected, and able to do meaningful work.

We believe therapy works best when it is:

• compassionate
• collaborative
• thoughtful
• grounded in strong therapeutic relationships

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a licensed therapist or associate-level clinician interested in working with adolescents, families, and adults.

This is a contract position with flexibility and the opportunity to grow within an established private practice.

The therapist joining AACI can expect to gradually build a caseload of approximately 10–20 clients per week, depending on their desired schedule.

Many referrals involve adolescents experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, family stress, or trauma-related concerns.

What We Offer

• Flexible scheduling
• Administrative support including scheduling and billing coordination
• Established referral network
• Private office space in Munster, Indiana
• Opportunity to work within an animal-assisted therapy practice
• A supportive and collaborative practice environment
• Opportunity to grow professionally within a developing specialty practice

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a clinician who is:

• Licensed or license-eligible (LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or associate level)
• Interested in working with adolescents and families
• Comfortable working within a trauma-informed counseling framework
• Open to working in a practice that includes therapy dogs
• Compassionate, professional, and collaborative

Experience with animal-assisted therapy is welcome but not required. Therapists who are curious and interested in learning about this approach are encouraged to apply.

Why Therapists Choose to Work at AACI

At Animal Assisted Counseling of Indiana, we believe therapists do their best work when they feel supported, respected, and able to focus on what matters most—helping clients.

Therapists who join AACI often appreciate:

• The opportunity to work with adolescents and families in meaningful therapeutic relationships
• A practice environment that integrates therapy dogs to support connection and emotional regulation
Administrative support that allows clinicians to focus on clinical work rather than paperwork
• A collaborative and respectful practice culture
• The flexibility to build a schedule that works for their professional and personal lives

We value clinicians who are curious, compassionate, and committed to helping clients grow.

Our Approach

At AACI, therapy dogs are thoughtfully incorporated into sessions when appropriate to help clients feel more relaxed and open during the counseling process.

For many adolescents and families, this approach creates a therapeutic space that feels less intimidating and more engaging than traditional therapy settings.

Therapists who join our practice often find that the presence of therapy dogs supports stronger rapport and deeper therapeutic work.
