Therapy Dog Adventures:The Great Peanut Butter Caper 🄜

Therapy Dog Adventures We Didn’t See Coming…

At AACI, every therapy session is guided by care, compassion—and occasionally, a whiff of peanut butter. Sadie, our beloved Saint Bernard therapy dog, may be known for her gentle presence and intuitive support… but she’s also earned another title: Snack Bandit Extraordinaire. šŸ•µļøā€ā™€ļøšŸ¶

Yes, today’s story is all about therapy dog adventures and one jar of peanut butter that mysteriously disappeared…

The Peanut Butter Goes Missing

It started as a normal day. One of our clinicians brought in a jar of peanut butter for a snack—and possibly a few licks for Sadie as a treat. The jar was left momentarily on a side table.

Five minutes later? Gone.
Lid? Missing.
Sadie? Sitting suspiciously still… with a little smear on her snout.

Busted… but So Loved

Sadie was caught red-pawed (or should we say, peanut-butter-pawed). No scolding necessary—her eyes already said it all: ā€œI regret nothing.ā€

The room burst out laughing, and the mood lifted instantly. For one teen who had been struggling to open up during their session, Sadie’s antics became the perfect conversation starter.

That’s the magic of therapy dog adventures—unexpected moments of lightness that open the door to trust and connection.

Why Laughter Matters in Therapy

While we take our work seriously, we know healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy. Moments like the Peanut Butter Caper remind us that:

  • 🐾 Laughter reduces anxiety and tension

  • 🐾 Shared stories build rapport

  • 🐾 Joy is a therapeutic tool

Whether it’s a missing snack or a surprise slobbery kiss, Sadie brings authenticity into the room—helping clients feel grounded, welcomed, and safe.

Silly, Sweet, and Full of Support

Therapy animals like Sadie aren’t just present—they participate. They mirror, they connect, and sometimes… they steal your peanut butter. But that playfulness often brings just what’s needed: relief, joy, and space to heal.
